Hosties4Heroes – Mission Accomplished!
Hosties4Heroes complete 24-hour SAS mission and raise over £4k for bereaved Armed Forces children
A fundraising group, made up of 10 glamourous air stewards, gave new meaning to the phrase ‘Who Dares Wins’ after surviving a gruelling 24-hour SAS survival mission all in the name of charity.
The group, aptly named, Hosties4Heroes spent the weekend battling sleep deprivation, crawling through bushes, rolling around in deer and cow poo, hiding from terrifying dogs and being interrogated by men in balaclavas as part of an SAS challenge devised by Channel 4’s SAS Who Dares Wins, Ollie Ollerton at break-point.com.
The group, led by flight attendant Sophy Mahon, took on ‘Mission Evade’ and raised over £4,000 in the process for Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
The event held in East Sussex really put the group’s survival skills to the test, Sophy said: “The whole 24 hours was full of twist and turns, the night was absolutely terrifying, and when the sleep deprivation kicked in it was mentally challenging, but the guys were fantastic. It certainly tested us, but we completed the course without getting caught. We were subject to interrogation including stress holds, white noise, hoods and dogs but we pulled through to the finish line.
“It was such an achievement to have completed it, there were so many scary but also funny moments along the way. It’s the best feeling and an experience you can remember forever. The camaraderie and can-do attitudes of the group triumphed and to support such as fantastic charity as Scotty’s Little Soldiers was well worth it.”
Commenting on the event, challenge organiser, Ollie said: “My hat goes off to the Hosties, they all gave 100%, we try and make it as real and authentic as possible and they were absolute troopers. A heroic effort from them all.”
Nikki Scott said: “The guys were incredible; the break-point guys don’t take it easy on anyone, this is a real challenge and it means a great deal that Hosties4Heroes chose Scotty’s to benefit from their efforts. It was lovely to see the team at the beginning before they headed off on their mission and delighted that they made it to the end.”
All money raised by the challenge will go a long way in helping us continue to deliver a high level of support to bereaved Forces children when they need it the most.
