Menstrie Personal Trainer Gears Up For 24 Hour Run
30 year old, Dawn Gibson from Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, is set to take on a 24 hour running challenge this weekend (28th July) to raise money for children’s Armed Forces charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
Beginning at 10am, Dawn will set off from Alloa on a series of runs which will take her a total of 24 hours with time for brief 10 minute breaks in between routes.
Now a personal trainer, Dawn is ex-military having served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers for 12 years and wanted to do something different to raise money for a charity which reflected her military connection. Dawn will be joined across the weekend with family, friends and clients, including her nephew’s football team, eager to cheer her on.
Discussing the run, Dawn commented: “I wanted to do something different this year and this is definitely a challenge. I feel, if you’re going to raise money for charity it should push you and that’s why I settled upon the 24 hour run. I can’t wait to see who turns out to run with me and I really hope to meet my target of raising over £1,000 for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, an amazing charity that deserves all the help and support they can get.”
Charity founder, Nikki Scott said: “What Dawn is doing is astonishing, to run for so long is seriously impressive and we’re so thankful that Scotty’s Little Soldiers is the charity she has chosen to raise money for. On behalf of the whole Scotty’s team we want to say a big thank you and wish her luck ahead of the weekend.”
